We owe our creation to women.
Women are why we are here.
Women architect our bodies;
build and nurture and deliver us
to outstretched arms
in a waiting world.
We owe our creation to women.
Women hold our ancestral wisdom
and carry the torch for the future.
Our communities are forged
from elders who blazed paths for us.
We owe our creation to women
— even those who bear
no children of their own —
those who provide the infrastructure
for our progress, for our purpose
weaving communities and holding
the ancient song of humanity.
We owe our creation to women
and yet modern society routinely,
pervasively, regards women
with abhorrence and contempt.
We owe our creation to women
and so we should uphold
and protect and cherish
and listen and believe
and amplify and elevate
the women of our world.
