Americana
“Americana,” a short appreciation for an imperfect place, written Friday, July 3, poem 184 in a series of 365 poems written by Diana Ludwick in 2026. Photo, "Americana," by Diana Ludwick (c) 2026.
It comes together
with multiple hands
several visions
many iterations.
Some flags
an assemblage
of wood scraps
and a drill.
Americana
waving stripes
and stars
we celebrate
the idea
the ideals
while still working
towards something
more perfect.
While we are striving
always striving
it is okay
once in a while
to take a pause
enjoy the way
that lights falls upon
a bowl of summer berries
and the angle
of a dangling banner
and just be of place
in grace
before the march goes on.
