Fringe
“Fringe,” a brief musing on the geode-like waves in Trametes versicolor, or turkey tail fungus, as found growing on a stump en route to the garbage bin. Written Friday, October 16, 2026 poem 289 of 365 poems written by Diana Ludwick in 2026. Photo: "Velvet Plateaus," by Diana Ludwick © 2026.
Trametes versicolor frills and flares, nature's whirling dervishes.
Ruffled soft pencil shavings, striated moths' wings.
Velvet ripples, they beg for tactile exploration, though I resist.
Acid lime and seina and sepia tones draw me in, an announcement:
something still yet grows in the damp shadows of this forest floor.
