Photo: "Elite," by Diana Ludwick © 2026. Image Description: A white hand holds a palmful of plain M&Ms in ratio-pleasing red, orange and yellows over a green dress-covered leg.

When so much of the world's time
is spent recovering from whiplash
sprung on by terrible news,
trudging through the toxic clean up
of self-stylized superfund sites:
may I pause for a moment?
Behold, celebrate with me:
the elite ratio of this fun size bag of plain M&Ms.

This prevalence of reds, orange and yellow
I may never see again.
Chomp through crispy chocolate shells
(That do, in fact, leave my palms sticky red)
I take relief in my Monday made less manic
by the presence of Red Dye-40.
