Spring
“Spring,” an exclamation of relief and joy that winter has finally left the building. Written March 20, poem 079 in a series of 365 poems written by Diana Ludwick in 2026. "Spring blooms," photo by Diana Ludwick (c) 2026.
We conquered
the snowcrete
and tornadoes
and endless days
—of no school —
and cabin fever.
Winter,
we've had
enough of you.
We made it!
We made it to spring.
We are here.
We survived.
On cue,
we are basking
in sunlight.
Come,
soak in the rays.
There, look at the
neon green grasses
peek up through
blizzard-dulled mulch.
Join me, as we
warm our exposed skin
on a breezy walk.
Feel the heat
on our closed lids.
Blessed Spirit of Nowruz.
Eid Mubarak.
Happy Spring Equinox.
We have made it through!
