Photo: "Wellies: a plate of Birthday Love," by Diana Ludwick © 2026. Image Description: a white porcelain dinner plate holds steamed green beans, mashed potatoes, and a miniature beef wellington in Dufour puff pastry.

Birthday love sounds like: "I'll make you your favorite meal."
Smells like minced funghi and shallots and black pepper.
Looks like whole grain French mustard spread on prosciutto
sprinkled with those sauteed mushroom, still pan-warm,
rolled around seared rare Chateaubriand and draped in buttery puff.
Feels like Sunday dinner with family, wine red, beans green, mash golden.
Mini beef Wellies on a school night? For me, he'll oblige.
